Have you ever used the Stitched Poly Ribbon from SU? It makes the nicest addition to a card. It ties so easily and looks so neat. My card starts out with So Saffron for the cardbase. The layers are Concord Crush and Pool Party. I stamped the Triple Treat flower once in Concord Crush on Whisper White and once on So Saffron. Then once more so I could punch the center out with a 1/2" circle punch and layer that with a Build-a-brad. I am so sad that those are retired. The flower is layered onto a 2 1/2" circle punched from Concord Crush. The Pool Party layer was stamped with Baroque Motifs in Versamark. I stamped "my friend" in Concord Crush and punched it with the Decorative Label punch and tucked half of it under the layers. I hope you like my card.

Wisteria Sympathy

Today's card is an experiment. I wanted to make one of these stairstep cards and I already had the flower image and sentiment stamped from a long time ago. But the dimensions for the center of this card end up being about 2 inches wide and my original image was more like 3. So I had to crop a lot of the image as far as I could without losing the words, but still allowing the image to fit on the allotted space. Have you made one of these? They are really easy. Dawn Griffith has a great video tutorial on it here. I made my card from Wisteria Wonder cardstock. My side panels are from the SU DSP called Flirtatious Specialty DSP. I used SU 1/8" taffeta ribbon in Basic Black. As I said the image and sentiment were something I had stamped probably more than two years ago, so unfortunately I can't tell you what company makes them. I layered the image on a skinny layer of Basic Black cardstock. I think this card would be well received if I ever had to send it. I hope you like my card.

Quilt Card

I went to a class run by my friend, Emily, to learn how to make this quilt card. The card we made in class was done in yellows and orange and was so bright and sunny. I have since made two more of these cards and this is one of them. I used the Nautical Expedition DSP from the summer mini catalog for my "quilt", fussy-cutting the center square. After making the quilt it is run through the Square Lattice embossing folder to give it that quilted look. The only mistake I made was that I forgot to put a layer of white behind my quilt and you can see the Cherry Cobbler layer between my "seams". My main card is Not Quite Navy. The Whisper White layer is run through another fun embossing folder: Framed Tulips. The sentiment is from the stamp set called Curly Cute. I hope you like my card.

Funky But Cheery

I don't know why, but this card ended up looking OK despite all my efforts to sabbotage it. LOL I started out with the paper that is on the reverse side of the DSP on the far right side of the card. It has mini polka dots all over an Early Espresso background. I had the ribbon around it and a totally different layer of items over that. Hated it. Ripped it all apart. Started over. Thankfully I hadn't actually attached the DSP to the card yet. So I tried a layout that I originally learned from Linda Heller. This worked I think. The paper is called Berry Blossoms and I used the new Lucky Limeade ribbon. I stamped items from Funky Four in Calypso Coral, Early Espresso and Lucky Limeade and punched them out with oval punches. They are layered over a Lucky Limeade 1 3/4" circle and an Early Espresso 2 3/8" scallop circle. The sentiment is from Happy Greetings. Under the sentiment is a partial strip of the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border in Lucky Limeade. In the end I think this funky little card is quite cheery. I hope you like my card.

Christmas in July

I love this goofy stamp set from Stampin' Up! It's called Snow Much Fun and there are two different snowpeople in the set. This is the tall thin version. I decided to totally avoid all traditional Christmas colors on my card. The little strip of DSP is from Nursery Nest and features Marina Mist, Pear Pizzazz, Perfect Plum and Blushing Bride. So my snowman is colored in these odd colors. He just looks so "cool", doesn't he? The accent of 3 3/4" circles is Pear Pizzazz and the main card is Island Indigo. Hope you like my card!

Poppy Parade Thanks

I love trying to recreate a card that I've seen on the internet or on a blog, using the stamps and paper that I have on hand. I saw a similar card to this one recently (although in going to look for it, I can't find it to give the originator credit!) I used Poppy Parade and Whisper White as my main colors. The piece of Pawsitively Prints II DSP is run through the Big Shot with the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder and then lightly sanded with a sanding block to remove some of the color off the top of the design. The Four Frames stamp is stamped in Poppy Parade ink and then I used Blush Blossom and Pear Pizzazz markers to fill in the design. The three thanks are from the Pretty Postage stamp set. I used white satin ribbon for an embellishment and the whole thing is mounted on a Whisper White card base. I hope you like my (cased) card!

Get Well Wishes

Today I needed a get well card as I read that a friend had recently had some emergency surgery. I knew I wanted to use the flower from SU's Button Buddies stamp set. And I knew that I wanted a red/brown combination. I looked through my DSP Sampler until I found two pieces of DSP that gave me the color combo I wanted and that worked well together. The DSP with the circle pattern comes from Well Worn. The diagonal striped DSP is from Letters to Santa. The sentiment is from Delightful Dozen. I stamped the sentiment and the flower in Cherry Cobbler ink on Very Vanilla cardstock. Actually I stamped the flower 3 times and did some scissor work. I layered the flower with dimensionals and used a retired SU button with linen thread tied through it. The base card is Soft Suede. I hope you like my card.

July Thank You's

I have three lovely ladies (hi Kathie, Joan and Jen!) who meet with me monthly to make Stampin' Up! projects. They place orders and each take turns being "hostess". It is an awesome help to me in meeting my minimums. I like to make a little thank you note to put in with their orders when they arrive. This one is 4 x 4 and the main color is Pacific Point. The background paper is from the Brights Designer Prints pack. The main image is from Cherish Friendship and is stamped in Staz-On and watercolored with Watercolor Wonder crayons from the brights collection. Then it is punched with the 1 3/4" circle punch and layered onto the 2 3/8" scallop circle punched from Pacific Point. The sentiment is from the Bold Blossom stamp set. The actual stamp says "thank you for being you" but I only inked up the words that I wanted. A little embellishment with the white Signo gel pen completes it. I hope that you like my card.

A Promise Fulfilled

I promised my friend Paige (She Who Must Stamp) that I would post a card on my blog this week. It was a good promise to make because I hadn't posted in such a long time and I needed the push. I knew I had to make 15 swap cards for my upline meeting anyway so I decided to kill two birds with one stone, so to speak. I chose the apple truck from SU's Countryside stamp set. My husband had a red flareside Ford F-150 when I first started dating him, so I decided my apple truck had to be red. Also, I am so looking forward to apple season because that will mean our extremely hot weather will be ending soon. Hasn't it been the hottest summer?

Cardbase is Crumb Cake, layers include Basic Black cardstock, Riding Hood Red cardstock and Designer Prints, watercolor paper. Image stamped in Staz-On and colored with SU Watercolor Wonder Crayons in Regals. Black brads and a snippet of black striped grosgrain ribbon are the only embellishments. Hope you like my card!

Black and White

I needed to make a black and white card for a swap group I belong to. I had some of the Newsprint DSP by Stampin' Up! that was given to me by a friend. There was just enough to stamp a few of these petals from the Build a Blossom stamp set. The newsprint is more ivory colored and so I used Very Vanilla as my card base. Not really black and white, but I hope the recipient won't mind. I wish I had turned the flower just a tad so that the "I" in the word imagine showed better. Oh well.

Valentine Prayer

This card was inspired by Diane Noble of Diane's Designs http://dianesdesigns.blogspot.com/ She makes cards for single and widowed women at her church and she showed a card on her blog that she had made for this purpose. I loved the card and the idea. I have several women friends who I thought would appreciate a Valentine from God. I used some paisley paper that I had bought at a local craft store as the focal point on my card. Stampin' Up! punches and seam binding are the decorative features. The sentiment was done on the computer.

My First Post

Well, I've been thinking about starting a blog for a long time now. And this morning I just decided to jump on in with both feet.

Here is a card that I made for my Nite O' Fun stampers. The card base is Pear Pizzazz. The fun effect of the candles is created by adhering the candle and flame shapes to the Peach Parfait layer and then running the whole thing through the Big Shot with the Square Lattice embossing folder. Isn't that fun looking? I added a gathered piece of Pear Pizzazz Seam Binding and the sentiment from Bring on the Cake to finish it off. Want to know where I got the candles and flame from? The candles are the Extra Large Tag Punch cut in half. The flames are one of the small fat leaves from the new Blossoms Petal Punch. Now you have another reason to buy that punch, right?
